HISTORY OF BHCCCI

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

It all began in the mid of 1986, when the Filipino people started to enjoy sipping their newly restored freedom (EDSA DRAMA) when God sowed the seed of spiritual freedom in a small campus of DMMMPSC-NM presently named Mindanao Polytechnic State College.

Six people, full of excitement, dedicated their lives to answer the call from above, willing to take the risk and determined to build the kingdom of God. From small bible study sessions to conducting spiritual seminars and disciple-making, the Lord formed it into a local church originally called, the Body of Christ Fellowship which influenced not only the entire campus but the community as well.

The group with God’s guidance took a bold step of faith by renting a commercial space in the heart of the city to accommodate the fast growth of people outside the campus. The group changed the name of the church from BCF to BHCM which is its present name.

With this, new visions and challenges arose. Through God’s help and favor, daughter churches have been established in different parts of the country and abroad.

The pages of history reveal GOD’s hand moving, guiding and master planning the Church works into new heights of service. The year 2000 saw the birth of a youth movement the "Kabataang Angat sa Prinsipyo at Tutol sa Imoralidad at Droga” (KAPATID), an organization of young people who dedicated themselves and advocated against drug addiction, immorality and prostitution. They envisioned influencing the young generation, making a stand on issues of Morality & Principled Leadership. Through this endeavor partnership were forged with different government offices like DepEd, PNP and DILG, to the City Council and even the office of the President through the Youth Affairs office & NYC.

Aug 8, 2003 was the creation of Blessed Hope Foundation, Inc. Values Formation Classes and Feeding Programs were conducted in different localities and communities in Cagayan de Oro City. The year 2003 is indeed a year of challenge for building a Worship Sanctuary with an estimated cost of 7 Million. Construction is on-going to date.

The year 2004 brought about the planting of a new daughter church in Catarman, Camiguin province. This year 2005, the Blessed Hope Christian Ministries, with the whole leadership ,has this vision - 25 in 25 through 2 in 1. This means that BHCM will be 25 churches in the 25th year anniversary on 2011.

From six people in 1986, the group grew to hundreds of people who worship GOD in Spirit and in Truth and who truly recognize HIM as their LORD, SAVIOR and most of all their LIFE.

Blessed Hope Christian Ministries is aptly led by dynamic ministers with Bishop Genesis T. Udang as Executive Pastor, Rev. Joselito P. Erezo, Administrative Pastor, Rev. Giovanni E. Fancubit, Pastor on Youth Affairs and Development .

FAILY CAMP 2009

How should I describe it? It was a once in a lifetime, momentous event.

BHCCCI held a 4 days family camp at Mid-way White Beach Resort, Initao, , Misamis Oriental last April 8-11,2009. Indeed it was spectacular! Almost all the families were present. We were grouped into 8 tribes ; there were a lot of new discoveries. Each tribe had special “auras” that their tribe names explain; the tribus were Bartolomeo, Mateo,Matias, Pedro, Juan, Tomas, Radeo, Simon . Each tribe was assigned to sleep in the dorms although the “generals” slept in the hall. No worries! The place was really wonderful and God was there to protect us from any harm, as always. Maybe, the first day wasn’t much of a headache and thrill. God never stopped teaching us even in little ways.

The theme for this year was : “KAGAHUM – Empowering God’s family. We learned a lot of things from the various lectures. During the sessions, the young people were separated from the adults. The food was evenly proportioned. In fact, we never expected that the food would be abundant because they were worried that it would lack. God is indeed a God of abundance. Anyway, each tribe created their own chants and yells. There were the all-colorful “Sulo” that were hand made by each tribe.

What touched me most was the bonding within each family and between families. Agility and mental skill was tested when we played the “Amazing Race.” Really, it was amazing! We were grouped by family but there were some “adopted” children. Anyway, playing the game was a lot of fun; running around, solving math equations, frying eggs and all that. I wished to have seen Pastor Bong do the swinging. Three families won the race and then the day ended. But God didn’t end there yet.

At the last night, we had a power encounter and God moved that it created a hunger and thirst within us. After the encounter, we were told to prepare a little something to present. There were a lot of famous celebrities that starred in the show. As I said, there were really new discoveries; from children and adults were a lot of potential superstars and actors. Since the start of the “last full show”, we haven’t lost the smile on our faces.

Really, it was fun. What a camp! It was life changing and exciting. From renewing our vows to team building, God worked in each one’s life. Truly, that camp was a blessing to each one.
